Licence and copyright

What you may do with a guide you have bought, in plain language.

What you are buying

You are buying a licence to use the guide, not the guide itself. The text, design, maps and layout remain the copyright of Global Route Press. Photographs remain the copyright of their photographers and are used under the licences credited in each book.

What you may do

  • Read it on any device you own.
  • Print it, as many copies as you need for your own household.
  • Share it with the people you live with.
  • Take it on your trip, mark it up, spill coffee on it.

What you may not do

  • Resell it, or pass it on in exchange for anything.
  • Upload it to a file sharing site, a group chat, a forum or a membership site.
  • Reproduce substantial parts of it in another publication, printed or online, without asking us first.
  • Use it as the basis of a commercial tour, course or service without a licence from us.

Quoting us

Short quotations for review, teaching or journalism are fine and always have been, as long as you credit Global Route Press and the title. If you want to use more than a short quotation, ask through the contact page and we will usually say yes.

Why we bother saying this

These are small books at small prices made by a small press. Copies that get passed around freely are the difference between the next title being written and not being written. If a friend would find a guide useful, send them the link rather than the file.
